7 trends in B2B Food-commerce

On September 12 in an interesting session, Group7 informed us about the results of their B2B food-commerce trend analysis. It showed a few interesting insights including the trend changes compared to earlier research.

One of the outcomes that we took home is the trend that brands are looking into the option of direct sales contact with the end customer. Another one is the fact that over 50% of the wholesale companies say they will invest more in their ordering process, to make things easier.

Regarding the first, food brands want to build a relationship with their (potential) customers and are doing so by exploring the market for direct "sales", or perhaps better said, direct marketing. A website of the brand itself where end customers can get inspiration and information. In some cases the products can be purchased in the webshop on the site, but the majority of the brands value their distribution partners and guide the customer (or his order) to the nearest distributor/reseller store. Our inspiration, browsing en ordering app modules fit in perfectly.

The other outcome that stuck with us was the fact that over 50% of the wholesale companies say they will invest more in their ordering process, to make athings easier, like:

  • placing an order
  • scanning products
  • setting time slots for order delivery
  • being updated on the fulfilment of the order
  • same-day delivery
  • improving the general user experience
  • investing in mobile commerce

No need to say that our retail components are build to deliver exactly that.

Both direct sales and improving the ordering process experience can become reality with a mobile app and underlying system. We love to share more on this topic and how the cross platform modules or a mobile app can help you. Drop us a note, or call us to find out more about our shopping solutions.
