HelemaalGroen and Nakko are taking a big step towards a cleaner Netherlands
App spurs Dutch to get out in nature and clean up public space
With the HelemaalGroen (Dutch for ‘AllGreen’) app, volunteers can signify where in their community they are helping to pick up litter while they’re hiking or biking in the woods or walking in town.
This way, this unique app is supporting both a healthier lifestyle as well as giving an additional, meaningful purpose to people who are getting out in nature.
The users’ activities are visible on the map, indicated by green lines which are also meant to motivate other HelemaalGroen app users in the direct vicinity or in the community.
The more people participate, the cleaner the Netherlands will become.
Within a very short time span after launch, and without app marketing so far, already more than 1,000 users have downloaded the HelemaalGroep app and signed up for participating in clearing out litter and waste in parks, woods, forrests, and neighborhoods.
As part of our social engagement, Nakko is supporter and sponsor of the HelemaalGroen project..
After the app had attracted its first 1,000 users, there had been quite some press coverage in various Dutch media outlets (newspapers, news websites and radio).
